Make A Distinctive Statement

September 22, 2015 by Andrew Stickel

If your business is local – and in some sense, almost every business is – you can probably enhance your online marketing efforts by identifying yourself and your business or professional practice with your city or community. It doesn’t take much more effort than you’re already putting into your online marketing, the benefits can be enormous, and you might even have some fun. How do you identify yourself as local?

You can start by writing an occasional blog post – one out of every four or five, let’s say – about a local topic. If you’re an attorney, write about the history of your local courthouse, peculiar local ordinances, or even review your favorite restaurants and local attractions. A real estate agent obviously wants to highlight the quality of life in a region and in that region’s various communities. If you review a restaurant, for example, make sure the restaurant provides a link from its own website to your review, and make sure that your review provides a link to their website. You’ll attract visitors who may want to find out more about you.

You should also consider producing videos and creating a YouTube channel, but you can do even more with video. Are your offices located on or adjacent to a famous busy street like Market Street in San Francisco or Canal or Peachtree Street in New Orleans or Atlanta? Or are you close to a noted local attraction like Central Park, Graceland, or the Las Vegas strip? Live streaming HD web cameras can be part of a powerful marketing strategy for almost any kind of business that wants to identify as “local.” A streaming webcam at a community landmark can make a distinctive statement about a business or a professional practice and its role in the community.

An experienced, professional internet marketing company can help you create the “local” content that you need, including blog posts, videos, podcasts, and more. An internet marketing company can also help you set up a streaming webcam and offer you a variety of other innovative online marketing tools. Take the time and arrange to talk with some internet marketing professionals about your many online marketing options as quickly as possible.

Backlinks in Your Community

September 20, 2015 by Andrew Stickel

Especially if you are a professional such as a realtor, an attorney, or a financial advisor, it’s essential to have a website, a blog, and a comprehensive, proactive internet marketing campaign. You should be establishing your brand and online presence and offering practical and engaging content. Your options are many; video, podcasting, ebooks, and multiple websites are just a few of the online marketing tools that professionals are using successfully. But without effective backlinks, the rest of your marketing efforts could be futile.

Backlinks are links on other websites that “link back” to your own site. Good backlinks are imperative because Google determines both the number and the quality of your backlinks and ranks you accordingly. Without sufficient backlinks, your rankings plummet because Google assumes that you have nothing very interesting to offer.

An experienced internet marketing firm can help you acquire the important backlinks that you absolutely need, but an internet marketing firm cannot know your community like you do. People who operate websites with amazing numbers are close to you, in your community, and maybe even right across the street. Seek out opportunities that can lead to landing a backlink. Local schools often have sponsorship opportunities. Community organizations often have pages dedicated to local businesses that make a donation. Write guest commentaries for local publications, and seek out opportunities to speak publicly or to be interviewed by local media. Small, weekly community newspapers will often be happy to accept guest columns from local professionals, and almost all of those publications have websites that locals routinely visit.

When counting your backlinks, Google only counts reliable, high-quality pages. You can’t cheat and willy-nilly create websites solely for the purpose of backlinking. A good internet marketing firm can ensure your website has quality backlinks, but if you really want to reach effectively the potential clients who are closest to you, you’ll need to acquire a few backlinks on your own. In so many cases, just asking for a backlink does the trick. Still, if your internet marketing isn’t doing the job, speak right away with an internet marketing firm about boosting your search engine rankings. Don’t lose any more business. Make the call promptly.

The Right Thing, The Right Way

June 30, 2015 by Andrew Stickel

If you type “buy Facebook likes” into Google, you’ll see how easy it is to buy phony internet followers. You can buy 1,000 Facebook likes for $29.99; 1,000 Twitter followers for $12; or any other type of fake social media credential, from YouTube views to Pinterest followers. Celebrities, businesses, and even the U,S. government have purchased phony Facebook likes from “click farms,” boiler-room operations where workers like, like, and like with thumbs up buttons and retweets that inflate the numbers.

Don’t try this. It’s a waste of your money, because your goal as a marketer is to create real relationships with real online visitors, convert those relationships to clients, and in the end boost your bottom line. Internet marketing requires authentic engagement, something that can be genuinely difficult for busy business owners and professionals. Working with an experienced internet marketing agency is a much wiser option than buying phony influence. Internet marketing professionals can help you win views, likes, and retweets by earning them. Instead of wasting your money with shady operators based overseas, an internet marketing agency offers professional, hands-on marketing services and advice that legitimately boosts your online brand and presence.

Between 2005 and 2012, the percentage of internet-using American adults on social media leaped from 8 percent to 70 percent. In 2005, Facebook had 5.5 million users; at the end of 2014, it claimed 1.4 billion users. Professionals love social media because the leads generated through social media have a much higher chance of converting into actual clients. Google’s algorithms consider social media, so a large following lifts your position in search-engine rankings.

Researchers have determined that buying and selling fake followers, likes, and retweets is a half-billion-dollar-a-year business, but only those creating and selling the deceptions are profiting. Lawyers, financial advisors, real estate brokers, and other professionals cannot be caught in unethical behavior. If you’re ready to do online marketing the right way, or if you’ve been doing it right all along but you need some fresh ideas, talk with the professionals at an internet marketing agency as quickly as possible.

Take Advantage of Youtube

June 25, 2015 by Andrew Stickel

Internet marketers are increasingly interested in the possibilities and potential that YouTube offers. It’s only in the last five years that YouTube has been seen and used as a marketing tool, and marketers are liking the results that YouTube delivers. YouTube attracts well over a billion unique visitors every month. It lets you visually demonstrate your product or service directly to potential clients, and it lets you look them directly in the eye. If you want or need help or advice about establishing a YouTube channel and getting the most out of your video marketing efforts, an internet marketing company can help. Don’t wait to make the call and get the marketing help you need.

In addition to demonstrating how a product is used, YouTube lets you answer viewers’ questions, offer commentary and advice, and conduct interviews. Coordinate your online marketing – use your blog and Facebook page to take visitors to your YouTube channel. Keep track of your subscriptions, likes, and comments to get an idea about what’s working. Create some kind of “teaser” or introduction to your videos that grabs a viewer’s attention, and use still pictures, charts, and slides as little as possible. You want to exploit the video medium with some kind of live action, even if it’s just you speaking, as much as possible.

Windows Movie Maker is fun to play with, but effective, professional videos are going to require much more. Don’t take any chances with low-quality productions, and don’t put anything less than superlative videos on your YouTube channel. You can get all the help that you need with video – and with your other marketing efforts – by working alongside the professionals at an experienced internet marketing company. YouTube is an unmatched marketing resource, so you really can’t afford not to use it. Don’t wait another day to make the call and speak to experienced internet marketing professionals who are ready to help.

Copy That Converts

June 4, 2015 by Andrew Stickel

Your website needs to look good, download fast, and be mobile-friendly. The colors, the graphics, and the general “feel” of a website are all extremely important. But no matter how good your site looks, no website is complete without superlative copy. From headlines and captions to the small print, copy is what converts visitors into clients and customers. A professional internet marketing agency can produce the copy you need, but if you’re going it alone, here are some recommendations for writing copy that converts:

Have a goal: Stick to your purpose. Whether you are selling widgets, mansions, or legal services, frame every sentence that you write in a way that brings your reader one step closer to making a purchase. Even if a new visitor doesn’t make a buy on his or her first visit, the website should encourage and prompt that visitor to return

Be concise and be clear: Teachers have to teach in a way that every student can understand. Preachers preach so that even the dullest person in the congregation gets the message. Use simple words, simple sentence structures, and precise terminology. Avoid “jargony” terms and industry-specific phrases.

Be yourself: Your copy’s voice and tone should be your own. While all marketing copy should be somewhat casual, obviously a legal website will be a bit more formal and slang-free than a comic book store’s website. Maintain your voice and tone in all of your marketing. If your Facebook page is loose and casual, your website shouldn’t be stiff and formal – or vice-versa. Remember that you’re speaking to a specific individual person, so use personal pronouns. Instead of “any buyer would want this widget,” write “you’ll want this widget.”

Editing is imperative: Read it. Reread it. Choose words that are more precise. Combine sentences. And proofread, proofread, proofread. It might not matter if you are selling comic books, but if you’re selling professional services, good grammar, proper punctuation, and precise language are imperative.

Online marketing – especially when it’s effective – is time-consuming, and it’s difficult to do it right. You’re already running a full-time business, so don’t hesitate to seek some help from a professional internet marketing agency, and don’t wait. Someone may be reading your website right now.

Listening And Learning

June 2, 2015 by Andrew Stickel

Online marketing, internet marketing, social media marketing – it’s all about establishing relationships with new potential customers and clients, building trust, and then maintaining those relationships day after day, year after year. Successful internet marketing puts relationships first, not technology. A business or a professional practice can have an attractive, informative website, a well-written blog, and great Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn pages, but if you aren’t interacting with your audience and providing great customer service, it could all be in vain.

A good internet marketing firm can help you create your website and blog, secondary sites, social media accounts, and give you marketing tools ranging from chatboxes to podcasts, but when it comes to serving and satisfying your potential customers, it’s going to be mostly your own effort. When potential clients view your business positively, it’s a big long-term benefit, but when you’re viewed negatively, word is going to get around fast.

Listen to what your audience is saying, and then provide solutions. When a problem emerges, resolve to fix it. Be creative. You can’t make everyone happy, but satisfying most of your customers most of the time is an achievable goal. Actually interacting and communicating with individual prospective customers is imperative. Today’s consumer wants to do business with businesses that are accessible and personable. For example, Starbucks – a global corporate giant – instructs its baristas to learn the names of regular customers and their regular drinks. It’s been a wildly successful approach that you can apply to your own business.

Dialogue with your Facebook friends and followers. Be sure a contact form is part of your website. You might even consider allowing comments on your blog (although they will need to be moderated). You need information about customers to satisfy them, so make it easy for them to reach you and be certain to respond. A professional internet marketing firm can give you the tools you need, but then, it’s up to you to listen and learn from your customers.
