We recently stumbled upon a website that gives lawyers the opportunity to order or download free legal marketing materials from Google.

The marketing materials all highlight real reviews of your law firm written and posted online by former clients.

To get started, visit smallthanks.withgoogle.com. Type the name of your company into the search bar to pull up all your law firm’s Google reviews. Next, choose the layout of your promotional materials.

You can either feature one review or three reviews, and you can also choose from a number of different fonts, font colors, and background colors. Be sure to choose a style that complements your law firm’s branding.

Once you’re satisfied with your choices, it’s time to decide how you would like to receive these marketing materials.

What Kind Of Marketing Materials Can You Receive?

The website gives you the option of either downloading the files directly to your computer or having the printed materials sent to you in the mail.

Either way, you will receive a 16 x 20 poster, tablet tent, and window cling that all feature the review and design you’ve selected.

These are high-quality promotional materials, so no one will ever know that they were made for free online.

This website also gives you the option of downloading an image that is ready to be shared on social media.

If you don’t want to download it, simply click on one of the social media icons to share the image directly to your law firm’s page.

As if that weren’t enough, the website also creates a customized animated video featuring some of the highlights of your law firm’s Google reviews.

For example, it will highlight some of the positive words used by customers to describe your law firm. The video also features a few full-length five-star reviews.

This video can’t be downloaded, but it can be shared to your social media pages. It also provides a link so that you can include it in an e-mail blast.

Take Advantage Of These Free Materials Today!

It’s hard to believe that this little-known website developed by Google offers so many promotional materials for free, but it’s true.

This is a great opportunity for lawyers to show off their five-star reviews without spending a dime on marketing.

Share the images on social media, hang the window cling up in your front office’s window, and find a good spot to display the poster so everyone can see what clients are saying about your law firm.

Lawyers often have trouble closing deals with prospective clients because they are not trained salespeople. But, closing deal is an important part of business, so it’s crucial to learn effective sales techniques.

The key is realizing that people remember how you make them feel, not what you say. Follow these legal marketing tips to sign more clients:

Get Clients Talking

Start the conversation with a prospective lead off by asking, “What brings you in today?”

This is a great opener because it gets clients to immediately begin talking about their pain, which is their legal issue.

Listen

The next step is simple: shut up and listen. Let prospective clients answer your question in as much detail as possible.

Fight the urge to interrupt with your own thoughts or opinions for now—just let them talk. The more they tell you, the more they trust you.

Take mental notes as they are talking. Identify their pain points—what are their worries, goals, and fears? What do they believe will happen if they don’t hire an attorney?

Prospective clients make decisions based on their emotions, not logic. Therefore, it’s important to understand what emotions they are experiencing at this moment.

Ask Questions

Jump in and ask open-ended questions about their pain points to get them talking again. For example, let’s say you are talking to someone with children who is preparing to file for divorce.

One of their biggest pain points may be the fear of losing their children in a custody battle.

Try to get them to provide more information about this pain point. Let them get these thoughts, worries, and fears off of their chest. As they answer these questions, sit back and listen carefully.

Offer Help

By this point, you should have a better understanding of why they are in need of your legal services. Make it clear to them that you understand exactly what they need from you by restating their pain points and offering legal assistance.

Say something like, “I understand that you are worried about losing primary custody of your children, but I can help you prevent this outcome.”

This statement shows the prospective client that a) you were listening, b) you understand exactly what they are going through, and c) you know how to achieve the outcome they desire.

This simple technique will make the prospective client feel safe at ease with you, which is what will convince them to sign on the dotted line.
